T and A and God...

Yesterday I drove past an adult entertainment club on my way to lunch. Their sign for the club advertised live nude shows. Below the sign on their marquee was the following prayer: "God, bless our troops!" It seemed odd to me that such a place would have this on their sign. No telling what kind of things were going on in secret inside the building. Outside, for all the world to see, was this plea to God. I wondered if God would pay any attention to a prayer like this from people like that. I began to feel very self-righteous. Then I remembered the story when the religious leaders brought a woman caught in the very act of adultery to Jesus trying to get his permission to kill her for her sin. Jesus granted them permission with the words, "let him who is without sin cast the first stone." The religious leaders simply walked away...

The story goes on to say that Jesus forgives the woman's sin but it doesn't tell us what happened to the religious leaders. It only tells us that they walked a way. And that is all I could do when I drove past the sign. While looking at the sign it was easy to judge, but soon I had to look inward at my own sin and all that was left was to keep on driving...
